Bass Lake State Forest Campground

West Bass Lake State Forest Campground offers 22 rustic campsites 10 of which can handle campers/RVs up to 40′ in length. There is potable water (hand pump) and vaulted toilets on site. There’s a small beach next to the concrete boat launch (swim at your own risk), which appears to get a lot of use.

For those intending to fish they lake there is good parking at the boat ramp and the lake is known for it’s Rainbow Trout fishing. Bass Lake is also within a short drive of Pike Lake (Walleye), Big Shag Lake(Bass, Northern Pike), Little Shag Lake (Rainbow Trout) and Anderson Lake (Bass, Pike, Crappie, Bluegill). Each of these lakes has a launch site and may require a recreational passport.

This who wish to hike or bike will find that the Anderson Lake Pathway eight miles to the SE is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and for the ATV rider the Bass Lake Motor Cycle trail is just up the road.

Gwinn Michigan is the closest town of size in the area for the those who are looking for groceries or modern conveniences.
